La Tourangelle Avocado Oil is handcrafted from premium avocados. Avocado oil is processed on equipment very similar to those used to process extra virgin olive oil. The avocado pulp is first expeller-pressed usually using a centrifuge. It is then lightly filtered and "polished" using another centrifuge. It takes from 15–20 avocados to make 1 (one) 250 ml/8 ounce tin. The result is a beautiful, emerald green oil with high level of monounsaturated fats that will bring a delicious, light fruity flavor to your dishes. La Tourangelle Avocado Oil, like La Tourangelle Olive and Hazelnut oil, contains oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat that may help to lower cholesterol. In one study of people with moderately high cholesterol levels, individuals who ate a diet high in avocados showed clear health improvements. After a few days on the diet that included avocados, they had significant decreases in total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, along with an increase in health promoting HDL cholesterol.The purity of La Tourangelle Avocado Oil makes it also an ideal partner to moisturizing your skin and hair. The skin absorbs it quickly without leaving residues. Makes Great Duck Egg Mayo
Years ago, when I made my mayo with an eggbeaters substitute, I eschewed my usual EVOO due to the latter's strong taste & used the olive oil recommended for baking. So, after going to the bother of hunting down duck eggs (due to my chicken eggs allergy 🙄) I used what my recipe suggested, avocado oil to avoid influencing the flavor of my finished product, & this avocado oil served admirably. Between my recipe's Dijon mustard, La Tourangelle's avocado oil, & the 5 duck egg yolks I also have the most beautiful really yellow mayo ever—the anemic look of commercially available mayo comes courtesy of a much higher percentage of oil than eggs. So, I'm more than happy with my mayo & especially since the eggs came from the happy little hens in a very small flock of ducks on a farm selling on Etsy. Update 2024-05-20: since duck eggs are really pricey & aren't available in stores, I winged it & used just 2 WHOLE duck eggs the last 2 times I made mayo—leaving me more eggs for breakfasts—& the mayo is just as beautiful if not more so. I had success using two different methods: 1. starting with all ingredients on the bottom BUT the oil which my original recipe (for goose, duck, or chicken egg mayo from everydayfull.com) called for adding all at once AFTER slightly blending the eggs, etc. mixture on the bottom with my immersion blender; 2. adding the oil very slowly—as is traditionally done—after slightly blending the egg mixture. Both times the mayo's consistency was as you see in my photo. NOTE: when using whole eggs, if the bottom mixture is blended too long the egg whites will froth, dragging out the task since that foam—which naturally rises—has to be blended into the rest once you reach the top. If you do that, I doubt you'll make that mistake again. Bon appétit!

    This is by far, the BEST TASTING TOASTED SESAME OIL that I ever tried! It has a fresh taste. For me, what I do is to cook and season with this oil. What I use it for is for seasoning food before I cook the foods. Later, I will elaborate on this and share with you some suggestions about using this very special oil. Here are the PROS:

    1) Has the lightest and freshest taste of any toasted Sesame oil that I used before. In the past, I store bought any brand of toasted sesame oil that I could find (when I could find it). They were OVER TOASTED. This one is medium or lightly toasted and it is toasted to perfection.

    2) The color is light yellow it kind of looks like a regular Olive Oil or even a Virgin Olive Oil.

    3) Reasonable in price. In my old brick and mortar store the other brand was twice as much in cost as this is and tasted just So So compared to this one.

    Here is how I use this oil:

    1) I saute my onions, garlic and peppers (finely chopped) in my frypan with just about 2 tablespoons of this oil. This gives so much flavor to the onions, garlic and peppers. Then I add this mixture to my homemade white sauce when the white sauce has completed the cooking. **The trick of sauteing this group of veggies to to chop them very fine, I use my food processor.

    2) I blend in 1 onion and 2 cloves of garlic, 1/2 Cup of Portabella mushrooms and food process it to a fine mixture. Then I mix 1/8 cup of this oil to one pound of ground meat and ONE EGG. Either I make mini meatballs (to bake) or I make hamburgers with this and they are very healthy and juicy.

    3) Making Raspberry Vinaigrette - Instead of the usual Olive Oil, I use this toasted sesame oil for making my homemade Raspberry Vinaigrette. What I do is to make this right before I serve my salad. This gives a very fresh and exciting flavor to any salad.

    There are some people rating this that said that the can was dented. Yes, mine had a tiny dent in it (however, I just touched the tiny dent and the dent came out. (This item was packed securely with my other Amazon items). This tiny dent did not go through the can.

    This I highly recommend and I rate it 5 stars!

La Tourangelle Avocado Oil is handcrafted from premium avocados. Avocado oil is processed on equipment very similar to those used to process extra virgin olive oil. The avocado pulp is first expeller-pressed usually using a centrifuge. It is then lightly filtered and "polished" using another centrifuge. It takes from 15–20 avocados to make 1 (one) 250 ml/8 ounce tin. The result is a beautiful, emerald green oil with high level of monounsaturated fats that will bring a delicious, light fruity flavor to your dishes.
