Product Description
Zinc Oxide Powder - 1 lb - Non Nano - (Zinc Oxide Powder in Quality Heat Sealed Resealable Zip Lock Pouch). Finest Quality - High Grade. Designed for use in sun screens and cosmetics. The powder is pure white and made up of nano + 20%, sized particles (a white fluffy powder like flour). This size particle is perfect for sunscreen. It is not so small that is can be absorbed into the bloodstream, but small enough to turn transparent after sunscreen application. Don't settle for the usual micro sized zinc oxide powder from another supplier. Our Zinc Oxide Powder is a French Process zinc oxide as defined by ASTM D-4295. It is a very fine particle size, high purity oxide. It was especially developed to provide a zinc oxide of highest surface area and reactivity, along with minimum setting and opacity.

Good for DIY diaper cream or sunscreen

- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2016*Be advised, zinc oxide CAN stain clothing and strollers. Spot test on a cloth item you are concerned about. It also DOES leave a white color on the skin (see picture). I find this discoloring helpful when I’m using it as diaper balm and sunscreen for very young children so that I know it’s there, but some people don’t like it.*
Here is the recipe I use for DIY diaper balm and sunscreen for my kids:
1/2 oz. cocoa butter
1 oz. shea butter
1.5 oz olive oil
1 oz. zinc oxide
All Measurements done according to weight. Melt all ingredients together into a double boiler until smooth. Cool, whip, store in old baby food jars, or other small containers (see picture).
This recipe is cloth diaper safe. It creates a 25% concentration of zinc oxide. Desitin is 13%, and Desitin Extra Strength is 40%. I also use this as a sunscreen on my <6 month infant with success. Granted, I am very careful to keep the baby covered, but this balm helps me feel better just in case her skin gets exposed.
Really, you can create any recipe just using olive oil, zinc oxide, and beeswax but I like the one above because I don’t trust beeswax on my cloth diapers (even though it’s technically cloth diaper safe). Here is a recipe I used to use until I had leaking problems on my cloth diapers. Honestly, I think the elastic in my diapers was the culprit (in hindsight) but I quit the beeswax around the time I switched brands of cloth diaper. The below recipe goes on the skin a little smoother than the above recipe, but both of them go on smoothly.
1/2 cup olive oil
1/3 cup beeswax
1/3 cup coconut oil
1/3 cup (45 g.) zinc oxide
2 T. Jojoba, Vitamin E, or olive oil
10 drops of lavender essential oil. (Optional).
^This recipe is 20% zinc oxide.
I hope this helps some other tired moms!

- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2013I have ordered 4 pounds total of this zinc powder on 2 different occaisions. Why? My youngest son is in diapers and the only creams that work on his rashes are the 40% zinc creams. In an effort to save money, I make my own diaper cream. (Store bought creams are around $16 for a 1 pound tub.)
I simply use however much petroleum jelly I have bought and add 40% worth of this powder to it. Throw it all in my handy Kitchenaid mixer and sort into jars. Sally's sells Proclaim's petroleum jelly (I believe you can even buy through Amazon) really cheap for a 13oz. jar. So does Big Lots. You can add a tube of A&D ointment, too. (My son's rear reacts negatively to A&D, so regular old vasoline works best for him. I have made it with A&D and have given a few batches to my friend's daughter and they say it's great for her, though.)
Buy buying 2 pounds of zinc powder at a time on Amazon, I think I can roughly make 8 pounds of diaper cream. Though I usually only make it in 3-4 pounds batches because that's all I can fit in my mixer at once. It sounds like a lot, but we keep a pound jar in his room, in the family room, smaller jar in the diaper bag, and extra in the hall closet for when I am running low. This or the name brand 40% zinc cream at EVERY diaper change are the only things that keep my 16 month-old rash free.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2018I'm using this to augment my usual anti-fungal foot powder in my Pickleball shoes and will likely use it in all of my shoes as needed. It has worked to "deodorize" my leather or synthetic Pickleball shoes that get quite a workout 3-4 days a week. I had a very nice pair of New Balance court shoes that smelled 'funny' from the first day and got "louder" as they got wet with sweat. I even washed the shoes in an effort to reduce the smell; but to no avail. Since using the Zinc Oxide powder mixed with the more standard anti-fungal foot powder, the smell is GONE from these shoes and all of my others. I use the powder mix inside my socks daily as well as dusting the insides of the shoes after play. I'm sold on this powder, as my shoes are smelling the best ever in over 40 years since I started playing tennis. I haven't measured carefully at all; guessing I'm maybe 15:1 foot powder to Zinc Powder in my "mixture" that I used daily. I'll even go all afternoon after a morning of Pickleball before changing shoes and they really don't smell offensive in the least...yay!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2015After being frustrated with the high costs of my favorite mineral makeup, I decided to try making my own using a recipe I found on Wellness Mama's blog/website. This was the product the author recommended (in addition to others). This comes in a pouch that will make several hundred batches of mineral makeup (using a few teaspoons or Tablespoons at a time, depending on the size of the batch) and will probably last me for years. The color is white and it mixes well with the other ingredients and gives good coverage and natural skin protection from the sun (SPF). This was my first time making mineral makeup, and although I am still playing around with the color levels for my skin tone, I was very pleased with the results and will definitely be making more in the future. In the summer I am going to try making my own sunscreen with this. The picture displayed is an accurate representation of the actual product, and the only con is that the resealable pouch doesn't really re-seal. I don't know if the zinc powder gums up the seal or if it's just a cheap seal (probably), but I had to put this in another bag to keep it from coming out of the pouch. Not enough of a problem to take a star off for, but annoying when I was expecting the bag to reseal.
