Product Description

Beeswax is a wonderful substance - a natural wax secreted by worker honeybees. Beeswax has been used across the globe since the dawn of civilization. It has been used to make food, cosmetics and medicine. Our all natural beeswax is good for both cosmetic and medicinal applications. It comes packed into small pastilles, ensuring that it will be convenient and easy to use. Our beeswax is a very fragrant, clean, and perfectly filtered product without the debris and muddy color found in typical waxes. Beeswax has considerable water-holding capacity. Adding it to body care products, salves, lotions and cosmetics will improve their appearance and consistency. You can also use them to make your own aromatic candles. As they fill your rooms with a pure, pleasant scent, they will emit negative ions that will help reduce unpleasant odors, dust, pollen and other allergen. Beeswax candles emit virtually no smoke, and they burn hotter and brighter than most other candles. Beeswax is suitable for food and cosmetic uses.

worked great for lip balm
5 out of 5 stars
worked great for lip balm
Worked great for DIY lip balm with NO need to grate beeswax as my friends have had to do in their recipes. The small beads take a bit longer to melt than the coconut oil I mixed it with, but it wasn't an issue. I did an activity with my moms group to make the lip balm and I think it worked well to heat up the coconut oil and beeswax the night before to melt the beads, then let it solidify. If you do that, it reheats faster because you won't need to let the beads melt again. Everyone loved the finished product.

The photo for these beeswax pastilles is really close up so I was worried that they would be bigger in size than I hoped for. But upon receiving them I found that the pastilles suit the word pastille in the fact that they are very tiny and do well if you need exact measuring (so you don't have to go through the trouble of grating beeswax sticks or blocks)

I needed some to make some solid perfumes and was therefore very pleased to smell them and find that their smell is not very strong at all and therefore did not disrupt the scents I was creating when making the perfumes.

Very pleased with this product. I will buy from this company again. And it's a prime item which makes it even more awesome.

I read the reviews first, to see what others say about this - seeing all these positive reviews made me actually buy it.
And, to be honest, this was a very good decision.
I was looking for something preferably organic, non bleached, for homemade lip balms. I have never made those before so I was also little clueless when searching for this kind of beeswax online.
This stuff is nice: it is PLENTY for the amount that I paid. I am not sure if I ever will use this up. I already made a batch of 10 lip balms, and this will take most likely up to a year to use it up in our household, so I am currently looking for other ideas of what to do with all this wax.
But as far as the quality, I have zero complaints. I have already used some of the lip balm with this beeswax, and it works very well. It did mix nicely, after little warming up, and did not cause any issues at all as far as skin irritation. Glad I found this, I kind of feel like I am doing something "organic" for myself and my family.

I paid full price for this beeswax and would buy this again.

I have been searching online companies for Beeswax Pastilles and this company through Amazon has the best pricing that I found. I use it to make homemade lotion. To me it simply smelled like wax with maybe a slight honey scent, not unpleasant at all but scent seems to be very subjective for most people. Beeswax lotion feels wonderful on the skin, highly recommended!

Update May 2013: I and my friends/family have been using this beeswax in homemade lotion for a few months now. I use about 1 tablespoon of beeswax and melt it down, then add Shea Butter, Jojoba oil, Olive Oil and Sesame oil, then I mix the whole batch, let it cool some, then scent with essential oils. The wax/honey smell I get from this product does Not overpower the essential oils; in fact, I do not smell it at all after the scents have been added. I have been very happy with this product. I have added a star because this has made a wonderful lotion for the skin.

I enjoy making my own lotions as I can customize them for a particular individual or need & I don't have to mess with all the toxic chemicals and additives found in many commercial brands. That being said, this bees wax is awesome for use in beauty products. It melts easily and has a clean, attractive quality that mixes well with other ingredients.
I also enjoy that the wax comes in small pebbles that can be easily measured and that I don't have to waste time grating a large brick of wax and either shredding too much or too little.
Larkin's Beeswax is a great product from a quality company and I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a safe, edible, usable wax. (I also have plans to use this wax to help preserve some root vegetable this fall but seeing as that is a ways off, I'll have to post it's use on that later).

After having read reviews complaining about the smoky smell, I was a bit nervous to purchase. Once I received the package, I immediately opened it up. There was no smokey or chemical smell, just a slightly sweet honey smell to it. The Pastilles melted down nicely; combined with cocoa butter and almond oil, it made a very nice, very inexpensive lotion bar. I did notice that there were small lumps of wax that were not pastilles, but even these melted down nice enough. The only reason that I am marking it four stars is because the packaging does not look at like the picture. It comes in a resealable bag. Over all, this is a nice product that is sure to last a while, as I have only used two ounces and there is still a lot left in the bag.

first time working with beeswax, used it for making lotion and chapstick. things went really well . melted smoothly and quickly. the smell isn't over powering, and isn't "nasty" in any way. My girlfriend doesn't really like any Burt's Bee's products because of the smell, but she agreed that this is a better smell and didn't mind it in the finished products at all.

My only complaint is the bag they send them in. Couldn't they at least "splurge" on a box of heavy-duty ziplock's instead of the super cheap flimsy thing they are mailed in? When I pulled the tape off, it ripped the bag open about half way down and pastilles went all over the table. Have something ready to put them in.

    However, I will be re-ordering again. = )

One of the best purchases I've made in a long time. I've been using this to make hand and face cream. I use 1 c. coconut oil and a little more than 1/2 c. of these bees wax pastilles. I'm still experimenting with the right ratio of bees wax to coconut oil. Too little bees wax and you get a cream that goes on smoothly but tends to run around your eyes. Too much bees wax and you get a cream that is too hard to put on. It's been a brutal cold winter this year in the northeast and I was so glad to know my face was protected - no chapped lips, cheeks or nose. It's so nice to know I have an all natural product to use. I've been using this for a while now. The 16 oz. bag lasts a long time so its a very economical way to have hand cream as well. Smells like coconut and honey on your face - wonderful.
