The blades actually maintain contact from the time you open them to the time you close them thus, they cut all the way. This translates to less opening and closing of the blades. In addition, the fact that these scissors are designed for both left and right-handed people. The blades separate making it extremely easy to wash and sterilize them. They are pricey but with a lifetime guarantee, I figure they are well worth the investment.
